3.45pm Melody Movement (For 2 & 3 year olds)
Learning early ballet technique the safe and fun way.
4.30pm Rose Award Ballet (For 4 & 5 year olds)
Laying the foundations for safe and solid ballet technique.
4pm Preparatory Ballet (For 5 & 6 year olds)
Preparing students for their first graded ballet examination.
5pm Primary Ballet (For 7 & 8 year olds)
Preparing students for their Primary ballet examination.
Please note - Ages stated are for new starters.
Existing students may be moved into a higher class before the starting age.
Melody Movement - Boys and girls bring along their favourite teddy or doll to join Melody and Milligan Bear and learn basic dance and movement skills using the natural actions of the body such as running, walking, jumping, hopping, skipping and galloping. Each lesson, if the little dancers have worked hard, they will receive a sticker to add to their reward card and work towards gaining Mini Star medals and rosettes.
Rose Awards - These are a stepping stone for junior ballet dancers as they learn the skills and tequnises required to progress into the Preparatory Class and take their BTDA graded examinations.
Rose students work towards their BTDA Rose Award exam. In addition, students who work hard in class will receive a sticker to add to their reward card and work towards gaining Mini Star medals and rosettes.
Preparatory and Primary - the first two of BTDA's graded examinations. Students start learning classical theary and safe alignment while being introduced to the barre and centre work which is the core of every ballet class.
Students work towards their BTDA examination, but also still receive their stickers, reward cards, Mini Star medals and rosettes.
Students will be expected to be in uniform by the end of their first half term.
Girls - Pink shoes; Flutter Sleeve Dance Dress; pink socks or ballet tights.
Hair must be tied up off the face in a bun or plaits.
Boys - White T shirt, black shorts, white socks and white shoes. Long hair must be tied back.
